http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap03_frq_english_lit__22957.pdf
Describe a characters response to colliding cultures and explain its relevance to the work as a whole.
Society taught religious/social decisions.
Amir felt like master of Hassan
Hassan illiterate
Amir Hassan's master but he felt like he was his brother so he was confused. Amir justifies it by saying just a servant.  Treats Hassan like a servant when convenience. Amir responds selfishly out of fear. Amir frustrated because Hassan lived and treated like a servant, but also gets all of Baba's presents and Baba's treatment is like family.

Confusion
Baba forgives for stealing money even though he says it's the biggest sin
Rape scene whether to step in or not
Baba fixes Hassan's harelip

Frustration:
Pomogranites
at Rahim when he lets him know

Cowardly

Tips:
Focus on one topic, like just confusion. You could do multiple responses, but have an example for each one. Don't be vague, be as specific as possible. Relevance as a conclusion. Make sure you go back to question and address all parts.

Relavance to the work as a whole
Amir's confusion about Hazzara and Pashtun (This is why it matters)

In the Kite Runner Amir is caught in ethnic collision and reacts in confusion(etc.) which identifies the deeper meaning of the story.
You have to describe the characters response to the division
